Spacecraft design and analysis
This web page will introduce you to some design and analysis methods used in S/C conceptual design. Typical topics include:
- Selection of baseline approach for subsystems
- Configuration design (body mounted solar panels or solar wings, spinning, 3-axis controlled or other, appendages, etc.)
- Mass & size properties (moments of inertia, centre of mass)
- Initial analysis and design of subsystems
- Cost estimation & cost distribution
- Reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety (RAMS) estimate
- Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Verification (MAIV) planning
- Risk estimate
- Budgetting
The above topics are also discussed in TU-Delft's Space Engineering and Technology course (AE2-S02, part B), although not necessarily in the order indicated above.
