Space Instrumentation
Instruments are the key components of almost all space missions. They monitor the environment at Earth, observe other planets and gather intelligence information, providing these data to scientists and analysts on the ground.
Space instrumentation is a new area of research that was only added to the research themes of the chair Astrodynamics and Satellite Systems in 2005. The research, currently primarily performed by our students in the scope of their MSc thesis work, is aimed at the development of new observation concepts or the design and engineering of state-of-the-art spaceborne sensors for Earth and planetary observation.
